Built for the people
who built the building.

Bay State Field Ops is a small consulting practice helping trades businesses across Massachusetts run smoother — without becoming software companies themselves.

Our story

We're the people you call when the back office stops working.

We're a technical consulting practice built on one core skill: showing up at a client's door, learning how they actually operate, and building something that fits. Not a generic solution. Something that works for the way that specific business runs.

Our background is two decades of hands-on consulting work — sitting in the room, solving the actual problem. We know what a well-run business looks like, and we know when the ops side is what's holding it back.

The story we kept running into: a skilled tradesperson, booked solid, good at the work — and drowning in the paperwork side of running a business. The software to fix it exists. What's missing is someone local who'll sit down, figure out what actually fits, set it up right, and still pick up the phone six months later.

That's what Bay State Field Ops is. We're based on the North Shore. We come to your shop. We're not a franchise, not a remote firm, not a software reseller. We're the people you let into your business because you trust them to act like it.

How we work

Four things you can count on.

We took the things we wished consultants did when we were on the other side of the table, and made them the rules.
RULE 01

Plain English, always.

If we use a word you'd have to Google, we used the wrong word. The day you stop following us is the day we've failed.

RULE 02

We disclose the partnership.

We're a Jobber Partner, which means we earn a commission when clients sign up through us. We tell you this upfront — because if Jobber isn't right for your shop, we'll say so.

RULE 03

Show up in person.

For the first visit, we drive to your shop. You can read someone faster across a kitchen table than across a Zoom call.

RULE 04

You own everything.

Your data, your accounts, your customer list. If we ever part ways, you walk away with the keys — no lock-in, no hostage situation.

Who we know

We speak
trade-specific.

A landscaper's billing cycle is nothing like a plumber's. We've worked with each enough to know where the rough edges live.
01 HVAC

Service contracts & seasonal swings.

Recurring maintenance plans, equipment lookups, the August stretch where every phone is on fire.

02 Plumbing

Emergency calls & on-truck quoting.

Flat-rate price books, dispatching after hours, getting paid before the homeowner has time to second-guess.

03 Electrical

Permits, change orders, big jobs.

Multi-stage projects, GC coordination, deposit-progress-final billing without losing track of who owes what.

04 Landscaping

Routes, weather, and net-30 customers.

Season-long contracts, route optimization, the four properties on the same street nobody wanted to put in order.

Let's talk

Coffee, your kitchen table, and one honest conversation.

That's all the first meeting is. We'll tell you what we'd do — even if what we'd do is "stay on paper for now." It's free.
